ABOUT SHERLYN

Sherlyn Powell is an American Author/Speaker and Businesswoman. She is a member of Toastmasters International, James, River Writers, Virginia Writers Club, and former Local Chapter President of the NAPW (National Association of Professional Women). 
Sherlyn is a Virginia native,  raised by two loving grandparents in Christiansburg, Virginia. 

During her career, she embraced in each opportunity to enroll in business writing classes offered through her employer. Her vivid imagination led her to creative writing classes to craft her début novel,  Something Desirable .

Solving a mystery leads to romance in her second novel Captured Hearts .

Sherlyn writes about strong independent women, love and the tight bond between family and friendships.

Her novels introduce believable characters and positive images her readers can relate to while maintaining a page-turner as she spins her story.

She opens her heart in her memoir,   A Gift Called Mother: The Stages and Fantasies of Motherhood to share with readers the devastion that occurs when commuincation breaks down among the family you love.

As she edits her next romance novel she is writing her second non-fiction book.

Encouraging our youth is important to her. She donates to several charities. One of the projects she was involved with while she was Local President of the NAPW (National Association of Professional Women) was to support a family in need during the holidays.

When she met a community director at an event, the director asked her to present a writing workshop for individuals interested in writing.

She compiled data, created a complete syllabus and contributed her time to help the community.  

In addition to writing she loves, music, enjoys attending stage plays, art, photography, networking at events, conferences, and cruises. 

Sherlyn is the proud mother of two successful young adults, one daughter and one son and she adores her three grandsons. She lives in Virginia with her husband.
